Murphy, the high performance SAL model. The Murphy is designed for the competition usage in the new F3K programm which replaced the old HLG program. As now flaps are allowed in F3K the airfoil is especially developed for that. Combined with the wing geometry and a large wing area, makes the Murphy the high performance plane for F3K. wing: Hollow molded glass wing with carbon/balsa spar and corresponding carbon reinforcements for SAL/Hang/allround/edition. Because of that the wing weight differs between the versions. The flaperons are already hinged with Elastic-Flap. fuse: The molded, yellow prepainted glass/kevlar fuse has a servo bay and a nose cone for easy installation of the radio equipment. In the SAL version the tail is completely made of carbon and kevlar. tail: - SAL cross-tail made of bala with carbon reinforcements. |
flight performance/usage: The used airfoil makes the Murphy an extremly high performance plane. With the SAL start technique large starting heights are easily achievd. The SAL version is specially reinforced with carbon to withstand the high forces of a SAL start. In the V-tail version the Murphy can either be started in the old javelin start technique or with a bungee. A special slope version with an extra strong wing is also available. radio: aileron/flaperons, rudder, elevator (V-tail or cross-tail (SAL)) test report: AUFWIND magazine 04/2002 how to... tauten the linkage
